About
I worked on this project during my fourth semester, guided by Professor Börries Müller-Büsching, who introduced us to the art of projection mapping. From the outset, my goal was to bring a song to life visually, fueled by my passion for stage and show design. Ultimately, I had the privilege of collaborating with the talented German singer Mia Morgan, known for her recent tours alongside Kraftklub and Casper.

Synopsis
“FLEISCH” is a projection mapping experience for a song under the same name by German singer Mia Morgan. The animation is inspired by the lyrics about a teenage friendship between two girls that might be more toxic than the protagonist wants to admit at first. In the style of colourful 90s but still horrific aesthetics the video illustrates what it feels like to be betrayed and overshadowed by someone you still can’t really abandon.
Stills
Here are some stills showcasing the final look of the music video:
Storyboard
In the initial stages, I pondered over colors and visuals that would align with the overall essence of the song. My focus was on selecting themes that resonated with Mia's style, drawing inspiration from the early 2000s and 90s, as well as anime. I aimed to capture the essence of friendship, love, and loss, infused with a subtle touch of morbidity.
Character Design
Drawing inspiration from my model, I incorporated masks into the visuals, allowing them to exhibit varying degrees of movement when projected onto it.
Process
Following the sculpting of the model in Blender, I proceeded to 3D print it and bring the animations to life. This involved a combination of frame-by-frame techniques, illustrations animated in After Effects, and 3D animations created using Cinema 4D. Once the animations were ready, I mapped them onto the model using Arena Resolume. The final step involved filming the mapped model and editing the footage into the music video you can now witness.
